Pattern weight competition winners

We received some great designs in our design a pattern weight competition with Pattern Weights. It was a close call when it came to the judging but three designs in particular caught the judges eye. There are 3 equal winners who each receive a great prize bundle which includes a set of their own pattern weights – and royalties for any weights of their designs sold, plus a great stash of fabrics, thread, patterns and a craft journal each. See the full prize breakdown here.

Prizes have been provided by the judges – Love Sewing, Hantex, Pattern Weights and The Sewing Directory.

The winners are (in no particular order):

Sewing cat themed pattern weights

Jane Jacks and Sarah Mayland with their cute cat designs, the highest scoring of which was the cat wrapped in the tape measure. Julie and Fiona from The Sewing Directory loved humour and the great drawing of these designs. Love Sewing editor Amy is a well know feline fan so these fun pictures were a hit with her too.

Stacey Turner with her bee inspired design. We love the simplicity of this design and the message it carries. We all felt it would translate brilliantly into a pattern weight.

Kate Sterling
with her pattern marking themed weights, the grain line being the highest scoring one. Paul at Hantex said they were very informative and ideal for dressmakers, Julie loved that they give you tips whilst you are sewing.  Amy and Fiona both loved the concept, it goes to show you don’t have to be an artist to come up with a great design.

If you love these designs pop over to the Pattern Weights website to order your own set. Don’t forget pattern weights make a great Christmas present for a friend who sews.

We’d like to give a special mention to a few other high scoring designs which were also much admired by the judges.

Lorraine Dunn created some gorgeous black and white drawings of sewing equipment (above left) and Lucy Farfort designed a fun set of colourful weights (above right).
