Easter Gift Bags

Felt Ester gift bags

This project has been designed by Little Miss Fancy Frocks, the dynamic mother and daughter duo who lovingly create handcrafted clothing for adults and children. Visit their Facebook page here.

The project is sponsored by Minerva Crafts, suppliers of all your embroidery requirements.

Make these lovely gift bags and fill them with Easter treats for family and friends. If you are a beginner to sewing this is a perfect start. Work with felt, buttons, simple hand stitching and machine stitching to create a beautiful handmade gift bag. Denise’s grandson loved making these bags – why not make some with your kids?

Beginner's sewing projects

Using the Pattern for the Easter Gift Bag cut out the bag marking the flower positions and the side seams.

Hand sewing

Position the flower heads in place and stitch each button through the flower and the bag.

Easy sewing projects for children

Fold the bag in half, wrong sides together and machine stitch the two seams either side of the bag.

Using pinking shears to finish the edges

Use a pair of pinking shears to pink the edges.

Sewing boxed corners on a bag

Turn the bag inside out and mark across the bottom corner of the base on either side of the bag for stitching.

How to sew boxed corners on a bag

Machine stitch and trim the two corners and turn right side out. Stitching the corners enables the bag to stand upright when filled with treats.
