Make these lovely gift bags and fill them with Easter treats for family and friends. If you are a beginner to sewing this is a perfect start. Work with felt, buttons, simple hand stitching and machine stitching to create a beautiful handmade gift bag. Denise’s grandson loved making these bags – why not make some with your kids?

You will need...

For each bag:
One piece of felt for the bag 30cm x 15cm
Scraps of felt for the flowers
Two buttons
Needle and thread
Pattern for the Easter Gift Bag
You will also need scissors, pinking shears and a sewing machine.
Instructions

Using the Pattern for the Easter Gift Bag cut out the bag marking the flower positions and the side seams.

Position the flower heads in place and stitch each button through the flower and the bag.

Fold the bag in half, wrong sides together and machine stitch the two seams either side of the bag.

Use a pair of pinking shears to pink the edges.

Turn the bag inside out and mark across the bottom corner of the base on either side of the bag for stitching.

Machine stitch and trim the two corners and turn right side out. Stitching the corners enables the bag to stand upright when filled with treats.

Your bag is now complete!

Why not vary the colours to produce an array of colourful bags for gifts?
