The Sewing Directory Terms and Conditions

This site is for the advertisement of sewing related businesses: sewing shops, courses, sewing machine servicing, fabric printers, independent pattern designers and sewing groups (not dressmakers or sewing services).  Any non sewing related businesses will not be published on the site and we reserve the right to charge a £10 admin fee for the time it takes us to remove the listing and refund the money.

Your business does not have to be solely sewing or textile related, however only the sewing aspect can be promoted on The Sewing Directory.  We do not feature knitting, crochet, jewellery making, papercraft and other crafts. We are a niche site focused solely on sewing, textile and embroidery crafts.


All new listings or updated listings are sent to a moderator to check and approve the content before the listing appears on the site. This is so we can check all links work, and look for spelling & grammatical errors and ensure you are a sewing business. We aim to put all listings live within a maximum of 24 hours, it is normally done within a couple of hours.  If there are any problems with the listing we will contact you on the details you have provided.

You give us the right to edit or amend your listing however we see fit, for example to correct grammatical or spelling errors or to improve your chances of appearing in search results. You agree that all information contained within your listing is not libellous, defamatory or misleading.  It is your responsibility to update your listing should any information change.  We reserve the right to refuse any listings that we do not want on the site for any reason and will refund any money paid.

All listings will appear in a random order, the order updates overnight each night.  Sponsored listings will always appear above the standard listings but again will appear in a random order.


The payment system on the site creates a recurring payment via Paypal.  If you prefer to pay by Bacs or standing order please contact us for our account details.

If payment is made in the form of an annual Paypal payment it will automatically renew on the same date the each year.  If you wish to cancel please give us 3 working days notice before your payment is due.

If payment is made in the form of a quarterly payment it will be drawn every quarter on the same date until either party cancel the payment.  If you have paid using your Paypal account you can cancel the payment at anytime through that account.  Card payments may be cancelled by contacting the issuer or The Sewing Directory.  Please allow us 3 working days to cancel your payment.  If you cancel part way through a quarter we will not refund any money already paid but will leave your listing live until the next payment is due.

PLEASE NOTE - Your listing will not appear on The Sewing Directory until payment has been received.


We will not pass your details to other companies (see privacy policy) but any information contained within your listing is in the public domain and may be used by other companies for marketing purposes.  This is why we do not publish your e-mail publicaly and create a contact form instead for interested parties to contact you, to help reduce spam.  We may use your details to send you the occasional e-mail offer or information about any relevant changes to The Sewing Directory (generally once a year).  For information regarding our cookie usage please see our cookie page

We will record statistical data regarding how many times your page is viewed using Google Analytics. This information is available upon request.

Off site promotion:

We may choose to promote your business on our social media, in guest posts we write for other sites/blogs or in the features we write for magazines.  We cannot guarantee to do this for every business listed on the directory but we seek to promote our customers whenever we can. We have a schedule to ensure we check all customers for news/things to promote.

Certain factors will make us more likely to promote your business:  If we can easily find information about your products/events/offers, and if you have good images for us to share then you are more likely to be promoted in this manner.

We also feature our customers in the content we publish on The Sewing Directory too where possible.


We will pass the details of competition winners onto the company providing the prize as most prizes are sent out direct by them. The non-winning entries are deleted within 1 month of the competition ending. 

In some instances the entries are sent direct to the prize giving company, you will be able to tell from the e-mail address given for the entries to be sent to and we will inform you clearly in the competition write up if this is the case.  The majority of the time all entries come direct to us and we destroy the data of all non-winners within 4 weeks of the competition ending.  For more information please view our privacy policy.
