Christmas Creativity Competition
After the success of last year’s Christmas competition, and the brilliant calibre of entries we received, we have joined forces with Cloth Magazine to run our Christmas Creativity Competition again this year. Last year’s winner was Lucy Barr-Hamilton with her innovative upcycled jeans advent calendar (tutorial can be found here). You can view some of last year's other entries in our projects section. We can’t wait to see what you have for us this year!

Submit a unique tutorial or pattern for making something related to Christmas, whether it is a Christmas decoration, stocking, advent calendar or something that could be given as a Christmas present.
Each tutorial must consist of clear written instructions, diagrams where necessary, patterns if needed and photographs. This must be something you have come up with yourself and have not seen in a book/magazine or on the internet (you have to sign the entry form to confirm this). The entries must all be sent by e-mail to email@example.com
The prize winning tutorials, and others that we choose, will be featured on The Sewing Directory (and/or on any of the prize giver’s websites) and the winning tutorial will be published in Cloth magazine!
How to enter:
Please save the entry form here onto your comptuer, then open it, complete it to submit with your tutorial. Please send the tutorial as a Word document or a document that can be opened and edited in Word. You can send other formats too but we need a format we can edit in case of any spelling mistakes etc. Please attach at least 2 images (including 1 of the finished product) to your e-mail (ideally in JPEG format). If we need the other images we will request them from you. Only send what you can attach to 1 e-mail for now (up to 10MB) Please send all entries to firstname.lastname@example.org
Receipt will be confirmed within 48 hours (check your junk folder just in case), if you don’t receive an e-mail confirming receipt within 72 hours please re-send or contact us to check we have received it. If your signed entry form is not received by the closing date your entry will be disqualified.
Please make sure you read all the terms & conditions below carefully before sending your entry. Failure to comply could result in disqualification.

Last years winning entry>
The winning entries will be published on the site along with some of our other favourites. We will link to your blog/shop/site with the article if you have put those details on your entry form. You must sign the entry form to say you consent to us, and any of the prize givers (Janome, Cloth magazine, David & Charles and Abakhan), using your tutorial online or in print. We reserve the right to alter the text or layout of the tutorial. You must also sign the form to confirm that the tutorial is original, and not taken from any other source, and that you will be liable for any breaches of copyright.
All entries to be received by midnight Thursday 20th October 2011, the winners will be announced by Tuesday 1st November 2011. The decision of the judges is final. You may submit more than one entry but prizes are limited to one per person. You cannot re-enter any prize winning tutorials from last year’s competition, however if you did not win a prize with your entry last year you can resubmit it.
Colleagues and family members of any of the judges are not permitted to enter. We welcome entries from outside of the UK however the sewing machine can only be shipped to an address in the UK or Ireland, as can products purchased from the Abakhan website. The Cloth subscription can be sent internationally, as can the books from the RU Craft website (see postage costs on the site).
If a signed entry form is not received by the deadline the entry will be disqualified. If anyone is found to be in breach of copyright they will be disqualified and banned from entering future competitions.
